Welcome to SOAR: Summer of Arithmetic and Reading!

SOAR is a summer academic program for students in grades 1-8!

Record your goal and pledges:
Help your child set a goal for the number of hours he/she plans to read and practice math skills over the summer. Ask family and friends to pledge a dollar amount per hour of summer skills work or make a flat donation. (Many employers offer corporate matching funds!) Help your child set a summer skills goal and complete the SOAR contract by May 31st!

Complete your summer reading and math:
Throughout the summer, read and practice math skills, recording the time on the tally sheet. Get creative; listen to audio books; do flashcards and workbooks; take turns reading aloud; play Scrabble, Boggle, or other educational board or computer games.  The more your child works on summer skills, the more likely he/she is to win fabulous prizes at the SOAR celebration in September!  Be sure to return your completed tally sheets to your new teacher by August 28th!

Win prizes:
Teachers will return SOAR contracts on September 6th, and each child will have until September 21st to collect pledged dollars. Our BIG SOAR celebration will take place on September 28th!  This year our prizes include tickets to see the Charlotte Hornets, a few mystery prizes, gift cards galore, and much more!
